On 24th May, the 20th session of the Political Bureau of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea was held. The meeting was attended by Kim Jong Un, the General Secretary of the WPK.
Also present at the meeting were Jo Yong Won and Choe Ryong Hae, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, as well as members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK.
During the meeting, the agenda item concerning the convening of the 10th Plenary Session of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK was discussed.
The esteemed Comrade Kim Jong Un chaired the meeting.
Kim Jong Un emphasised the necessity of convening the 10th Plenary Session of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK, which will review the work of the first half of the year and discuss and make decisions on a number of important issues to successfully implement this year’s direction of state affairs and all tasks set at the 9th Plenary Session of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK.
He presented the main points of the agenda to be discussed at the plenary session and proposed a draft decision of the Political Bureau.
The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK unanimously adopted the decision to convene the 10th Plenary Session of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK at the end of June.
The Political Bureau also discussed other important issues arising from the Party and state’s work and heard a general report from the General Staff of the Korean People’s Army on the current military situation.
The meeting set immediate tasks for the military actions of the armed forces of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to ensure the dignified defence of national sovereignty, security, and the country’s interests, emphasising the need for their responsible implementation.
