The 20th meeting of the Political Bureau of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) took place on May 24th. Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK, attended the meeting.
Also present were Jo Yong Won and Choe Ryong Hae, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, as well as members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee.
The meeting discussed an agenda item on convening the Tenth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK.
Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un presided over the meeting.
Kim Jong Un stressed the need to convene the Tenth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK, which will review the work for the first half of this year and discuss and decide on a series of important issues in order to successfully implement this year’s direction of state affairs and all tasks set forth at the Ninth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK.
He presented the main agenda items to be discussed at the plenary meeting and proposed a draft decision of the Political Bureau.
The Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee unanimously adopted a decision to convene the Tenth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK at the end of June.
The Political Bureau also discussed other important issues arising in the work of the Party and the state and heard an overall report of the General Staff of the Korean People’s Army on the prevailing military situation.
The meeting set forth immediate tasks for the military action of the armed forces of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to creditably defend the national sovereignty, security, and interests of the country, stressing the need for their responsible implementation.
