On 13th June, the 31st Plenary Session of the 14th Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK was held in the Mansudae Assembly Hall.
Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, first vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, and chairman of the Standing Committee of the SPA, chaired the plenary session.
Also present were vice-chairmen Kang Yun Sok and Kim Ho Chol, General Secretary Ko Kil Son, and other members of the Standing Committee of the SPA.
As observers, responsible officials from the Standing Committee of the SPA, the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, ministries, and national agencies also participated.
The plenary session discussed the issue of examining and adopting the DPRK law concerning deputies to the people’s assemblies at all levels, the selection of judges for the Central Court and people’s jurors, and other issues as agenda items.
A report was presented on the nature of the draft laws discussed in the Legislative Commission of the SPA.
The purpose of the law on deputies to the people’s assemblies at all levels is to contribute to ensuring that deputies to the SPA and regional people’s assemblies fulfil their responsibility and role as representatives of the people in the struggle to strengthen and develop a people-centred socialist system in our own style. The law sets out the work principles that deputies should follow during the sessions of people’s assemblies at all levels and during the recess between sessions, as well as the principles for ensuring the activity of deputies.
The plenary session examined and discussed opinions on the draft laws and adopted the DPRK law on deputies to the people’s assemblies at all levels, as well as other laws as decrees of the Standing Committee of the SPA.
The plenary session selected judges for the Central Court of the DPRK and people’s jurors.
