The General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, respected comrade Kim Jong Un, on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of Victory in the Great Fatherland Liberation War, in the second half of the day on 26th July, together with members of the central leadership of the party, visited the Martyrs’ Cemetery of the Revolution on Mount Taesong.
At the Martyrs’ Cemetery of the Revolution, an honour guard of the KAL was set up.
Comrade Kim Jong Un, on behalf of the party and the government, laid a flower wreath at the Cemetery and, together with all participants, observed a minute of silence in honour of the fallen revolutionaries who gave their precious lives in the sacred cause of defending the independence, sovereignty, and freedom of the homeland.
A ceremonial march of the honour guard of the KAL took place.
Comrade Kim Jong Un, together with the participants, toured the Martyrs’ Cemetery of the Revolution.
With respect, he recalled the noble lives of the representatives of the first generation of the revolution who, with absolute devotion to the ideas and leadership of the great Kim Il Sung, destroyed the strong imperialist enemies in two wars in one generation and made great achievements in history. He laid flowers at the bronze busts of O Jin U, Kim Il, Choe Chun Guk, Kang Kon, Kim Chaek, An Kil, Ryu Kyong Su, and Choe Hyon.
Comrade Kim Jong Un said: “Today, in the hearts of descendants, the images of the anti-Japanese revolutionaries are preserved as an unshakable support. On the distant and bloody road of the anti-Japanese war, under a hail of bullets, they proved the iron truth that the great strength of the unity of the leader and the people, forming a single body, and the indomitable spiritual strength of the army and the people, who adopted the justice of their cause as their conviction, can work miracles that are unparalleled in the world.”
The fact that the traditions of victory in the anti-Japanese war continued in the anti-imperialist, anti-American resistance and became the eternal traditions of all of Korea’s victories, and that the revolutionary spirit of Paektu has been extraordinarily strengthened as a nationwide ideological and spiritual heritage, is the greatest merit of the fallen revolutionaries towards the homeland and the revolution, he noted. He continued: “When future generations come together and create eternal unity based on the Paektusan spirit, 27th July will shine forever from generation to generation as the immortal symbol of socialist Korea, synonymous with unquestionable victory.”
Comrade Kim Jong Un paid great tribute, wishing to immortalise on the pedestal of glory the spirit of the fallen revolutionaries who prepared the valuable ideological and spiritual legacy for our great state and people, and created immortal revolutionary traditions.
