Ryangchon Temple

Located in Rakchon-ri, Kowon County, South Hamgyong Province, Ryangchon Temple has a long history. It was originally constructed in 753 and currently houses the Taeung Hall (the main temple), the Manse Pavilion, and the Muryangsu Hall. The main temple was rebuilt in 1636, and the Manse Pavilion was expanded in 1729. The temple preserves paintings and other historical relics that reflect the contemporary life of its time. Ryangchon Temple is considered one of Korea’s notable temples due to its size and historical significance.
