The Academy of National Defense Science of the DPRK, a versatile research base that has firmly ensured the continuous development of the defense industry based on the Juche ideology through science and technology, a base that has taken on the honorable mission of powerfully leading and driving the revolution in the defense industry in the new era, marks the 60th year of its history.
This main base of patriotic talents leads our honorable defense industry, which has been strengthened through the revolutionary character of the Workers’ Party of Korea as its special feature, using science and technology. I am pleased to visit on the occasion of this significant 60th anniversary of its founding and meet the most valuable comrades.
Sixty years ago, this day was a significant day when the foundation for the continuously victorious line of our Party was laid, the defense of the achievements of the revolution through self-sufficiency; it was a historic starting point, signaling the outbreak of noble ideals and sentiments of Korea, which sought to become a global military power.
Pioneers who paved the way for our revolution, which made the first step with weapons as its assets, to forever create a valuable sword of self-defense with their own efforts, marked the path for a grand and sacred cause here, and also here, over more than half a century, created military equipment based on the Juche ideology that gave the greatest strength to our heroic army.
From the first half of the 1960s, when efforts to simultaneously carry out both economic and defense construction began as the embodiment of the Party’s idea of self-sufficient national defense, up to the present day, defense scientists have recorded many valuable research and development successes through diligent efforts supporting the Party’s line and strategically and tactically important tasks assigned by the Party. Their patriotic dedication is reflected in every corner of this scientific base.
On behalf of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Academy of National Defense Science, I convey sincere congratulations to all the scientists, technicians, workers, and officials of the Academy who have contributed to strengthening the power and prestige of our state in every possible way through their unwavering loyalty to the Party and the people, and their extraordinary creative abilities.
At the same time, I express sincere thanks on behalf of the Party and the state to the wives and other family members who, sharing the patriotic will, had to endure all kinds of pain in supporting our defense scientists who have devoted everything to strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.

A state worthy of independence relies on a powerful self-defense capability, and defense resources that can actively handle any threat are unimaginable without the omnipotent talents capable of continuously creating and improving things.
Our state has been able to achieve victory after victory for more than 70 years because it has reliable forces and the capabilities of the armaments industry based on the Juche ideology.
Thanks to the great role of talented red defense scientists working only in the embrace of the Workers’ Party of Korea, loyal and valuable talents who bring only eye-opening miracles to the Party and the state, our Party has always been confident in leading the revolution and has been able to acquire high, ever-victorious prestige and honor at every step.
Seeing such noble heights of defense capabilities achieved by our Republic and weapons based on the Juche ideology of our army, which is growing stronger every day, and feeling pride in them, the unanimous will of all citizens of this country would be to give the highest, sincere respect to the heroic contributions of scientific and technological talents for each of them.
In the early days of the establishment of the armaments industry, defense scientists of the previous generation strengthened their patriotic faith under the slogan “The motherland is dearer than life” and laid the foundations for the development of the industry. And under the banner of unity raised by you, defense scientists who inherited their noble traditions, our state has achieved the position of a military power with strategic strength according to the Party’s plan.
Our defense scientists have devoted themselves to fulfilling the Party’s policies without failure and increasing the military strength of the state with their unmatched abilities and revolutionary spirit, creating miracles in defiance of impossibility. I believe that all of them are heroes of heroes and patriots of patriots.
Taking this opportunity, I pay the highest tribute to you, who have served as the solid foundation for the combat capabilities of our army, which guarantees the eternally victorious history of our Republic through weapons.
Our martyrs selflessly gave their sincere devotion, indomitable spirit, hot blood, and precious lives for strengthening the defense capabilities for the glorious cause of the Party and our great state and people. Our scientists, technicians, and officials in the national defense sector have become pioneers and the foundations for the leap forward, following the path of sincere and diligent research throughout their lives. Their achievements will shine forever in the history of the country.

The security environment of our state is becoming increasingly unstable every day. This still presents us with many urgent tasks on the path of progress of our rapidly developing industrial revolution in defense, which has been making transformations and miracles.
The actions of the American imperialists and their most loyal lackeys and puppets to seize our sovereignty are becoming more and more ominous, and their frenzy is becoming more serious with each passing day.
The American imperialists and their vassals recently set the highest record in demonstrating their military power near the border of the DPRK and in the waters and airspace adjacent to it.
Daily repeated aerial espionage by the enemy, mass deployment of American strategic assets on the Korean Peninsula, and unchecked aggressive military exercises are becoming unprecedentedly desperate in their scale, content, and sinister intent. This adds fuel to military tensions in the region and seriously undermines the balance of military forces.
Nevertheless, the enemy is attempting to deceive world public opinion with sophistry, claiming that our natural means of self-defense against their provocations are a serious challenge to international peace and security.
This distortion of facts by the enemy is the fundamental cause that further exacerbates regional military tensions and poses a danger of conflict, as well as a serious challenge to regional peace and security.
Currently, our army has real military strength capable of deterring the United States from intervening militarily in the event of a crisis on the Korean Peninsula, and has overwhelming power capable of destroying the main striking forces, infrastructure, and command systems of the puppet army of the Republic of Korea at the early stages of operations.
Since we possess destructive strike forces capable of frightening the enemy, as a defense capability, we carry out the mission of war deterrence responsibly. However, the changing military situation in the region does not give us time to rest on our laurels.
Our security situation requires that we build our war deterrence by all possible means, and these contemporary tasks will be realized thanks to your responsible awareness of the situation, political awareness, and perseverance.
Yesterday, the National Space Technology Administration of the DPRK launched another reconnaissance satellite as planned to achieve goals in building the country’s defense capabilities.
This is another important step toward strengthening the military capabilities of our country and advancing the cause of national defense. The relentless efforts and dedication of our scientists, technicians, and officials at the National Defense Science Academy continue to pave the way for new successes and innovations, ensuring that our state remains secure and its sovereignty is upheld.

As we look to the future, it is crucial that we continue to strengthen our defense industry and scientific capabilities. Our nation’s security is dependent on the talents of our people, who are dedicated to the revolutionary cause and the defense of our sovereignty. Through their tireless work and the support of the Party, our country will remain a powerful force in the world.
