Kim Jong Un, the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, visited the Academy of Defense Sciences on May 28, on the 60th anniversary of its founding, and congratulated and encouraged the defense scientists.
All the scientists, technicians, and officials who had the infinite honor and happiness of welcoming the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to the academy, whom they had been eagerly waiting for on the occasion of its 60th anniversary, to be specially recorded in the history of revolutionary leadership in the field of defense sciences of the WPK, which initiated the great work of building a prosperous country with a strong army with strong independent faith and determination, warm hearts and souls, and deep love, carried great emotion and joy.

He warmly appreciated the reliable defense scientists, significantly commemorating the academy’s anniversary in the midst of brilliant honor and distinguished achievements in upholding the great military and strategic plan of the Central Committee of the Party, with the most profound and excellent research successes in the core strategic stronghold for building a powerful state and advanced base for modernizing the Korean People’s Army and strengthening defense capabilities.
He was accompanied by Ri Pyong Chol, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, Pak Jong Chon, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and Secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, Jo Chun Ryong, Secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, Kim Jong Sik, First Deputy Director of the Department of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Jang Chang Ha, Director General of the Missile Administration of the DPRK.
He delivered a significant speech on the occasion of his congratulatory visit to the academy.
In his speech, he expressed his joy at visiting the patriotic talent base, which leads in the field of defense industry, having grown stronger, becoming the property of the revolutionary character of the WPK, on the important 60th anniversary. On behalf of the Central Committee of the Party and the government of the DPRK, he sent warm congratulations to all the scientists, technicians, workers, and officials of the Academy of Defense Sciences of the DPRK, who contributed with their scientific and technical abilities to strengthening the power and dignity of the state at every step of the revolution.
He referred to the pride of the WPK, which had gained high prestige and honor of invincibility at every step thanks to the great role of the red scientific talents of the WPK and the heroic contribution of defense scientists, who laid the foundation for the development of the arms industry and created a noble tradition with their unshakable patriotic faith. He paid the highest tribute to the merits of the scientists, technicians, and officials in the field of national defense, who served as the solid foundation of the combat capability of the Korean People’s Army, which guarantees the ever-victorious history of the DPRK with weapons.
Referring to the serious security environment created during the revolution in the defense industry, which made rapid progress thanks to changes and miracles and all the urgent issues arising from the need to strengthen military capabilities, he critically analyzed and evaluated the danger and recklessness of the political and military provocations of the American imperialists and their puppets, which are becoming increasingly outrageous.
He stated that the current situation requires further strengthening of the war deterrent in all possible ways and gradually developing the armed forces of the DPRK into a superpowerful and absolute force. He emphasized the importance of the role of the scientific-technical thought center in the second revolution in the defense industry and pointed out the tasks and ways before the Academy of Defense Sciences in the new era of struggle, setting a fresh leap forward in the expansion of defense capabilities.
He expressed confidence that all the scientists and officials of the academy would achieve greater innovative successes in research and the development of cutting-edge military equipment, more united with the intention and will of the Central Committee of the Party, to continue demonstrating the dignity and power of the mighty country and always remain faithful to the sacred responsibilities and duties they have taken on behalf of the revolution and the people.
After the speech, the defense scientists erupted in enthusiastic cheers of “Hurrah!”, full of strong confidence in the unchanging will of the Party to build defensive capabilities to guarantee the eternal dignity and honor of the country and its people and in further great new changes in strengthening independent defense capabilities and readiness for war.
He encouraged the passionate defense scientists to quickly and resolutely achieve the peak goals of increasing defense capabilities set by the Central Committee of the Party, doubling efforts and utilizing extraordinary resources and wisdom, deeply rooted in the belief that great defense capabilities, which are systematically developed and improved, mean the authentic dignity and name of a powerful country, lasting peace, and a rosy future.
Kim Jong Un visited the revolutionary museum.
He said that the brilliant history of the Academy of Defense Sciences is linked with the noble lives and immortal patriotic deeds of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, who organized the first scientific institute for weapon research during the time of fierce war, to declare the establishment of defense sciences oriented to Juche, developing it in the 1960s into a unified institute of scientific defense research, which most accurately implemented the Party’s policy on defense sciences and laid the eternal foundation for the development of defense sciences with its foresight and outstanding leadership.
He emphasized that the development and successes of the Korean revolution are inconceivable without preferentially strengthening national defense capabilities, urging defense scientists to add brilliance to the legendary name and history of the academy, which laid the foundation for the DPRK under the leadership of the Party, always remembering the highest responsibility and duty they have taken for the revolution and the future and accelerating the realization of the Party’s strategy for the continuous and unwavering development of national defense.
He also toured the exhibition hall of the academy, guided by its chief representative.
He stated that the ultimate goal of the revolutionary struggle to permanently defend dignity and the honor of the nation and the country is the transformation of defense into an unbeatable power, ready to face any external challenges, using all available means to ensure the future and lasting peace for all generations.
After touring the exhibition, Kim Jong Un congratulated the entire academy staff, encouraging them to continue their development and innovation in the field of defense science. He emphasized that their work is crucial in strengthening the country’s defense and ensuring its independence.
