The General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, respected comrade Kim Jong Un, on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of Victory in the Great Fatherland Liberation War, visited the Friendship Monument on 26th July.

He was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK, Choe Son Hui, and the head of the international department of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Song Nam.

To the sound of music, a wreath was laid on behalf of respected comrade Kim Jong Un at the Friendship Monument.

The ribbon of the wreath bore the inscription “Eternal memory to the fallen Chinese People’s Volunteers.”

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un paid tribute to the fallen Chinese People’s Volunteers who shed their blood to help the Korean people in the revolutionary war against the barbaric armed invasion of American imperialism.

A ceremonial march of the honour guard of the KAL took place.

Comrade Kim Jong Un, together with the accompanying leaders, viewed the Friendship Monument.

He said that the victorious 27th July, brought about by the peoples of both countries, the DPRK and the PRC, sharing both sorrow and joy in the same trench, and their common destiny during the most difficult period for the homeland, is a great historical victory of humanity that shows unchanging vitality, even as years pass and centuries change.

Comrade Kim Jong Un emphasized that the heroic deeds of the Chinese soldiers, the People’s Volunteers, recorded in the chronicles of the history of the DPRK – the history of victory in the war, will be preserved in the hearts of the people as an eternally shining golden star, and expressed confidence that the Korea-China friendship, bound by blood, will certainly continue and develop together with the immortal spirit of the fallen heroes.
